Russian President Vladimir Putin Meets Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Russia for a diplomatic mission, where he met President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg on Monday. As per agency report, Putin praised Iran's fight for its sovereignty.

During the meeting, he also mentioned a special message from Tehran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Putin clarified that Russia is committed to making every effort to restore peace in West Asia and protect Iran's interests. After the meeting, Abbas Araghchi described Russia as a 'steadfast and unwavering' friend, stating that the meeting demonstrated to the world that Iran is not alone in difficult times.

Notably, Araghchi's flight was assigned the call sign 'Minab 168' as a diplomatic message in memory of Iranian children killed in the US-Israeli attacks. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the visit, describing it as a symbol of the strengthening strategic relations between the two countries. Moscow and Tehran have reiterated their commitment to support each other on international platforms.

According to Iran's ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, the main agenda of the visit is to discuss mediation, ceasefire, and regional security. Before visiting Russia, Araghchi traveled to Oman and Pakistan, where discussions took place on issues such as a new legal framework for the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US blockade.

Russia and China have already supported Tehran by vetoing US proposals regarding the Hormuz Strait. Iran is now rapidly moving towards garnering international cooperation from powerful countries like Russia for its recent peace proposal.
