Amid Ongoing Tensions with Iran, US President Donald Trump Makes Major Statement
US President Donald Trump has completely dismissed the possibility of using nuclear weapons against Iran amid the ongoing military standoff. During a discussion with reporters at the White House, Trump clearly stated that nuclear weapons should never be used by anyone and that he would not resort to such lethal weapons against Iran.
However, he did clarify that his main objective is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. Trump claimed that the US currently has full control over the Strait of Hormuz and that it has been strategically kept closed to pressure Iran, preventing it from earning from oil trade. He mentioned that the US has an abundance of oil and no longer needs to rely on the Strait of Hormuz, as they are producing more oil than the combined output of Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The President warned that if Iran is not ready for a solid deal, the remaining 25 percent of military targets would also be destroyed. He stated that the pressure of time is not on the US but on Iran, as the halt in oil exports is crippling their infrastructure. Trump emphasized that they are not in a hurry and want a lasting agreement that would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons in the future.
Amid diplomatic tensions, Trump also mentioned a humanitarian success, stating that Iran has agreed to halt the execution of eight young women and release them at the moral request of the US. Regarding peace in the Middle East, he said that stopping funding to organizations like Hezbollah would be a prerequisite for Iran.
Trump expressed confidence that the US military has already neutralized most of Iran's critical sites and that they are now waiting comfortably for an agreement. This statement has made it clear that the US is adopting a strategy to bring Iran to the negotiating table through strict sanctions and military pressure.
