Surat: Pre-monsoon cleaning campaign intensifies in Limbayat, concrete steps being taken to prevent flooding

Surat. In light of the flooding issues caused by heavy rainfall during the last monsoon, the Surat Municipal Corporation has already begun taking precautionary measures this year.

Under the direction of the Municipal Commissioner, a special campaign is being conducted for cleaning the drains. In areas where traditional cleaning methods are not feasible, floating excavators are being utilized. One of the four machines has been deployed near Madhavbag Society in the Sweet Drain of Limbayat, while the remaining three machines will be operational by the end of this week.

Additionally, a team of experts from central government agencies for flood control has also arrived in Surat. Experts from the Central Water Commission and the National Institute of Hydrology have been conducting a detailed study of the city's drains since April 20. This team will analyze various aspects of the flooding issue and suggest short-term and long-term solutions.

The municipal administration is preparing to take necessary actions based on these suggestions before the upcoming monsoon. Officials believe that this timely action will significantly help in reducing the annual flooding problems in the city.
