Senior officer Ramashray Pandey from the 1990 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) assumed the role of General Manager of Western Railway on Friday, April 10, 2026. Prior to this significant appointment, he was serving as the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction/South) at East Central Railway, Patna.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, Mr. Pandey has successfully handled several important responsibilities. He has served as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) at the Varanasi division of Northeast Railway and as Chief Engineer at Northern Railway, New Delhi.
Additionally, he has held key positions such as Deputy Chief Engineer in Gorakhpur and Samastipur, Special Officer on Duty (OSD) for Member Engineering at the Railway Board, Director of Vigilance, and Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer in Hajipur. He has also worked as Group General Manager at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), where he ensured the successful implementation of several important infrastructure projects. Mr.
Pandey holds a B.Tech degree from IIT Roorkee and an M.Tech degree from IIT Delhi. He has received extensive international training in railway operations and infrastructure management, including track recording in Italy, an advanced management program in Singapore and Malaysia, high-speed train operations in Spain, and tunneling techniques in Turkey and Norway. Given his extensive experience in infrastructure construction, management, and administration, it is believed that under his skilled and dynamic leadership, Western Railway will achieve new milestones and set new dimensions of progress.
