Surat: BJP reacts strongly to Kharge's statement on 'insulting Gujaratis

The controversial statement made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Gujarat during an election campaign in Kerala has stirred political tensions in Gujarat. The BJP has registered a strong protest, claiming the statement hurts the self-respect of Gujaratis.

During a significant press conference held at the BJP Surat metropolitan headquarters on Wednesday, party leadership criticized Congress harshly. Hemaliben Boghawala, the co-spokesperson of Gujarat BJP, termed Kharge's statement as 'insulting and divisive'. She stated that the Congress President's remarks prove that the Congress party's mindset is still filled with animosity towards Gujarat and its people.

Gujarat has always been an example of entrepreneurship, struggle, and patriotism. Kharge's words are not only insulting but also detrimental to the unity of the country. The people of Gujarat will respond strongly to any attempt to tarnish their identity.

Surat Metropolitan BJP President Paresh Patel, in his response, stated that this statement from Congress leadership is against the democratic values of the entire country. He mentioned that Gujaratis have made a historic contribution to India's development through trade, industry, culture, and public service. The BJP is committed to protecting the dignity of every Gujarati and every Indian.

During the press conference, BJP leaders advised the Congress high command to abandon divisive and insulting politics and focus on constructive dialogue. They demanded that Congress apologize to the people of Gujarat for this act committed by its top leadership. The BJP clarified that belittling any state or community in the race to win elections is not a hallmark of a healthy democracy.
