Review Meeting on Gas-Petrol Supply in Surat, ₹500 Discount Announced on New PNG Connections

In Surat, a significant review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Avantika Singh, Managing Director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited, to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel, gas, and other essential items. During the meeting, Avantika Singh stated that essential items such as gas, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers are currently available in sufficient quantities in the state, and all necessary arrangements have been made to maintain a smooth supply in the future.

Considering the situation in the Middle East, better coordination between the district administration and the municipal corporation has ensured a smooth supply system in Surat. She informed that there are approximately 1.52 million domestic PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections in Surat city. To further promote gas supply, consumers obtaining new domestic PNG connections by June 30, 2026, will receive a discount of ₹500, which will be credited to their bill after the connection.

According to the central government's guidelines, priority is being given to PNG connections, especially for homes, educational institutions, hospitals, and community institutions. Out of 1805 applications received for commercial PNG in the district, several applications from hospitals and railway canteens have already been approved. District Supply Officer Darshan Shah mentioned that dealers of HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL have started supplying 3 and 5 kg gas cylinders.

Additionally, the process for obtaining PNG connections has been simplified, reducing the timeframe from 45 days to just 7 days. The meeting was attended by District Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, Municipal Commissioner M.

Nagarajan, and officials from various departments, along with representatives from oil and gas companies. This meeting is considered a significant step towards strengthening the supply of essential items in the district.
