Toddler Rescued After Unintentional Lock-In in Vadodara Flat

VADODARA - A heart-stopping incident in the Nizampura area of Vadodara city saw a two-year-old boy accidentally lock himself in his home, leading to a half-hour-long rescue operation by the fire brigade, who managed to successfully break the lock and free the child.

The mishap took place in the Shreenath Classic Natasha Park apartment complex on a Friday morning when the young boy, while playing inside the flat, unintentionally closed and locked the door after his mother had left for work. Realizing the child was trapped inside, the concerned neighbors quickly reached out to the boy's father, Ajes Appukuttan, an employee at the Bank of Baroda Alkapuri branch.

Despite the collective efforts of the child's parents and neighbors to unlock the door, their attempts proved futile. As the child's cries echoed from within the apartment, a distressed call was placed to the fire brigade more than half an hour into the ordeal.

Upon receiving the call, the fire department responded swiftly, arriving at the scene equipped with advanced tools. Using what are colloquially known as 'modern guns', the team skillfully managed to unlock the door, thus avoiding any need to break it down.

The toddler, safely extracted from the apartment, was then promptly reunited with his relieved parents. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of accidents involving young children, and the crucial role of rapid response and intervention in mitigating such risks.
