Surat Civil Hospital Overcomes Year-Long Server Issue, Improving Patient Services
Tele Radiology Server Replaces Traditional System, Speeds Up Case Paper Issuance
Surat Civil Hospital has finally solved a server issue that has been plaguing them for the past year, much to the relief of its administration. With the state government's approval, the hospital has now integrated a Tele Radiology server in place of the previous case paper window server, substantially speeding up the process of issuing case papers.
Thousands of patients who visit Surat Civil Hospital daily for treatment had been suffering long waits due to the server issue. The ordeal required them to wait up to ten minutes for their case papers to be generated, a process that typically takes approximately 30 seconds.
The issue worsened when, following the completion of the hospital building, a case paper window was opened for Amarnath Yatris in the old trauma center, alongside the patients of the kidney building and trauma center. This led to the server being overburdened, causing delays in case paper generation.
At times, doctors in the outpatient department (OPD) would be ready for consultation, but patients would be absent due to the delay in acquiring their case papers. This forced the case paper window operators to manually write the case papers, leading to increased waiting times and frustration among the patients.
The recurring issue was continuously reported to senior medical authorities by the patients facing these challenges. However, a definitive solution was only implemented this week, when the Tele Radiology server was authorized for use.
Dr. Ganesh Govekar, the Superintendent at Surat Civil Hospital, reported that the Tele Radiology server has drastically improved the situation. Now, the case papers are being issued promptly within 30 seconds, relieving patients of long waiting times. According to Dr. Govekar, since the implementation of the new server, no further complaints have been reported.
