Tragic Loss in Surat: Toddler Chokes on Chiku Seed, Declared Dead Upon Arrival at Civil Hospital

In a heartbreaking incident in Udhna's Kailas Nagar, Surat, a one-and-a-half-year-old child tragically lost his life after choking on a chiku seed. Rishi Nayak, the toddler, was declared dead upon arrival at the Civil Hospital, where he was rushed immediately after he lost consciousness.

Rishi was at home enjoying the tropical fruit, chiku, fed to him by his mother on Wednesday afternoon. However, the seemingly innocent snack time turned fatal when he swallowed a chiku seed. It is believed that the seed got lodged in his windpipe, leading to the child's sudden fainting spell and subsequent death.

Santosh Nayak, the child's father and a lace maker hailing from Ganjam, Odisha, is a resident of Kailas Nagar in Udhna. He and his family are grappling with this sudden, devastating loss.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the local Udhna police promptly arrived at the hospital. They have registered the incident as a case of accidental death. As part of routine procedure, a post-mortem examination was ordered to determine the exact cause of Rishi's untimely demise.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of close supervision during meal times, particularly with young children, who may not yet fully understand the dangers of eating certain types of foods without adequate caution.
