Public Welfare Fair Organized in Vadodara Under PM SVANidhi Scheme for Street Vendors

Vadodara – As part of the “Seva Pakhwada” being celebrated from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 to October 2, the Urban Development Department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation organized a public welfare fair under the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana for street vendors.

In the first phase of the program, street vendors operating food and tea stalls at Sar Sayaji Nagar Gruh and Pandit Deendayal Nagar Gruh were given training on food safety by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The training was conducted by Mumbai-based Shri ATR Company, whose instructors also held an interactive question-and-answer session with the vendors, providing them with detailed guidance. The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation and satisfaction with this initiative.

In the second phase, scheduled for September 29 and 30, a larger public welfare fair will be held where vendors will be able to apply for loans of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 25,000, and Rs. 50,000 under the PM SVANidhi scheme. In addition, they will be provided access to benefits from eight different government schemes. The fair will also include online profiling of urban street vendors to ensure better support and integration into formal systems.

As per report, the initiative reflects the government’s efforts to empower street vendors by providing them with financial assistance, training, and access to welfare schemes, ultimately improving their livelihoods and promoting inclusive urban development.
