Trump Confirms Plans to Speak with Putin After Zelensky Call
Washington, September 5 – US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he intends to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin following his recent conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The statement came during a dinner with technology industry leaders at the White House on Thursday evening.
When asked by a journalist whether he planned to speak with his Russian counterpart soon, Trump replied that he would and noted that “very good conversations” were already underway. The comment follows speculation over Washington’s role in efforts to mediate the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The dinner was attended by some of the most prominent figures in the technology sector. Trump was seated at the center of a long table between First Lady Melania Trump and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The First Lady earlier chaired a meeting of the newly formed Artificial Intelligence Education Task Force at the White House, which had initially been scheduled to take place in the Rose Garden but was shifted indoors due to rain.
During the evening, Trump invited industry leaders to share insights about their companies and investments in the United States. Zuckerberg disclosed that Meta expects to invest approximately 600 billion US dollars by 2028, highlighting the scale of private sector commitments to the American economy.
The President’s confirmation of future talks with Putin comes at a critical time in global diplomacy, with Washington balancing its engagement with both Kyiv and Moscow while seeking to project unity with technology leaders on domestic economic priorities.
