President Murmu Confers National Teacher Awards to 45 Educators

New Delhi, September 5 – President Droupadi Murmu on Friday presented the National Teacher Awards to 45 teachers from across the country, honoring their exemplary contributions to education. The annual awards recognized innovations in teaching methods, dedication to student development, and efforts to improve learning outcomes even under challenging circumstances.

The awardees have played a crucial role in shaping young minds across India, from adopting innovative teaching techniques to inspiring first-generation learners. Among the recipients was M. Devanand Kumar, a Telugu faculty member at Dr. Lakireddy Hanimi Reddy Government Degree College in Mylavaram, Andhra Pradesh. He was commended for his creative approach to teaching, which included preparing palm-leaf manuscripts, producing educational videos for learning management systems, and earning recognition for his academic contributions.

Another recipient was Prashant Kumar Saha from the Department of Psychology at Rajiv Gandhi Central University in Arunachal Pradesh. He was honored for his expertise in forensic psychology and neuropsychology, bringing over 14 years of teaching experience in these specialized fields.

Before the award ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the award-winning teachers. In a lighthearted exchange, he noted that while teachers typically assign homework to students, he wished to give them a task of their own – to take a lead in promoting indigenous products and strengthen campaigns such as “Make in India” and “Vocal for Local.”

The National Teacher Awards serve as a recognition of the pivotal role educators play in nurturing the next generation, highlighting the importance of innovation, dedication, and inspiration in India’s education system.
