Platform No. 1 at Surat’s Udhna railway station reopens after 120 days of redevelopment

Surat – Passengers at Udhna railway station can now breathe a sigh of relief as Platform No. 1, which had been closed since April 15 for redevelopment works, reopened on September 3 after 120 days. Western Railway completed all safety checks and trials before resuming train operations with upgraded passenger amenities.

According to officials, special attention has been given to improving facilities for travelers. The redeveloped platform now includes seating capacity for 250 passengers, drinking water taps, 26 stalls, toilet blocks, and a lift. Security has been enhanced with the installation of 15 CCTV cameras, while a passenger announcement system and coach indicators have also been introduced. To improve convenience, the platform has been equipped with five entry and exit gates.

As per agency report, several trains that were temporarily diverted to Surat station during the closure will once again halt at Udhna. These include the Gujarat Queen Express (19033), Valsad-Vadodara Passenger (59059), Virar-Bharuch Express (19101), Dadar-Porbandar Express (19015), Valsad-Surat MEMU (69151), Borivali-Vatva Express (19417), Flying Ranee Express (12922/12921), and Sanjan-Surat MEMU (69141).

Meanwhile, work is underway to raise the height of Platform No. 6, which is expected to be ready before Diwali. During the festive season, special trains will be operated from this platform. Once the festival season concludes, Platforms No. 4 and 5 will be closed for concourse construction, marking the next phase of redevelopment at Udhna railway station.
