Surat's Textile Markets Regain Festive Spark Amid Soaring Demand for Religious Apparel : Harish Lalvani

Surat: With the festive season commencing across the country, Surat’s textile markets are witnessing a revival in vibrancy and business activity. Local textile trader Harish Lalvani, while speaking to Loktej, noted a significant increase in demand for religious attire compared to the previous year.

He shared that garments made from velvet, net, and embroidered fabrics are particularly popular this year, along with other festive textiles. Major festivals such as Ganesh Utsav, Navratri, Durga Puja, and Diwali have triggered a nationwide surge in orders, with bulk purchases already flowing in from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, especially for Ganesh Chaturthi.

According to industry insiders, there is a notable demand for garments for idols, decorative backdrops behind deity statues, and other traditional and religious clothing. The onset of festivals in August has brought renewed momentum to the textile sector.

After enduring a prolonged period of slowdown, the preparations for upcoming celebrations have infused the market with fresh energy. Traders are optimistic that this momentum will carry through until Diwali, revitalizing Surat's textile trade.
