Surat Bolsters Public Transportation: New Bus Routes, E-Vehicles Added

SURAT - In a bid to enhance the city's public transportation system, the Surat Municipal Corporation has announced the inauguration of new bus routes, along with an increase in e-vehicles, improving connectivity and promoting sustainable travel options in the city.

The newly launched bus route, number 413, will connect Limbayat Nilgiri Circle to Seemada, passing through various significant points like Kumbaria and Saniya Hemad. The initiative is expected to greatly benefit residents, workers, and students in the Kumbhariya and Saniya Hemad villages, providing them with direct bus service to Sarthana and Limbayat areas.

Mayor Hemali Boghawal, Choryasi MLA Sandeep Desai, Amitsingh Rajput, Dinesh Rajpurohit, and other officials of the Municipal Corporation recently flagged off the first bus on this new route.

A step further in the sustainable travel initiative, the Municipal Corporation continues to progressively increase the number of e-vehicles in the city, emphasizing their commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Surat Municipal Corporation currently provides Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) services and city bus facilities at subsidized rates to cater to the growing demand for public transport. The city bus services, with a total of 44 routes, and the BRTS, having 13 routes, serve approximately 230,000 commuters daily.

The Municipal Corporation encourages the city's residents to make full use of these transit services, as the increased usage underscores the community's growing reliance on public transportation. As part of this ongoing commitment to improve public transit, the corporation is continually working on expanding and enhancing its services.
