Diamond Heist Worth Rs 25 Crore Shakes Surat’s Industry
Surat – In a shocking incident that has rattled the diamond industry already struggling with a slowdown, thieves looted diamonds and cash worth nearly Rs 25 crore from D.K. & Sons Diamond Company located in Kapodara. To eliminate evidence, the culprits also took away the company’s CCTV footage and DVR system along with the valuables.
Preliminary investigations suggest the gang carefully planned the heist, taking advantage of three consecutive public holidays to break into the premises. They used specialised cutters to break open the safe and escape with the diamonds and cash stored inside.
The discovery of the theft triggered swift action by local police, the crime branch, forensic teams, and senior officers, who rushed to the spot and began investigations. Authorities are now scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas to track the suspects. Initial suspicions point to the involvement of an organised gang.
As per agency report, the incident has spread fear and anxiety among Surat’s diamond traders, who are already facing challenges due to the ongoing market slump. Police have assured that every possible effort is being made to identify and apprehend the culprits behind this high-value crime.
