Surat : Hidden Camera Incident at K’s Charcoal Restaurant Sparks Outrage; Cleaner Arrested

Surat – A shocking case of secret filming has come to light at the popular K’s Charcoal Restaurant in Pipload, where a mobile phone was discovered hidden inside the ventilation grill of the women’s washroom to record female customers. The matter came to light on Sunday when a vigilant woman customer noticed the phone placed in recording mode and immediately alerted others before contacting the police.

Police investigations revealed that the act was carried out by the restaurant’s cleaner, 30-year-old Surendra Rana, who had been employed at the establishment for the past two years. His younger brother also works at the same restaurant. The Umra police arrested Rana and recovered two mobile phones and part of a spy camera from him. Officials further found several objectionable videos and suspicious Google search history on his phone.

The incident unfolded when the woman customer, upon entering the restroom, spotted the recording device lodged in the grill. Raising an alarm caused panic in the restaurant, after which the management contacted the police. Subsequent inquiries and CCTV footage confirmed Rana’s suspicious activities. A search of his residence led to the recovery of part of a spy camera, while the main component is still being traced, indicating that he had been using both mobile devices and spy equipment.

K’s Charcoal management issued a statement

K’s Charcoal management issued a statement condemning the incident as extremely unfortunate and against the restaurant’s values. The statement stressed that even the owners and their families use the same washrooms, underlining the seriousness of the breach. The management assured full cooperation with the police, noting that all employees had already undergone police verification and that a fresh round of checks has now been initiated.

To reassure customers, the restaurant announced it would remain temporarily closed until the investigation is complete. Management pledged to restore customer trust with stronger security measures, stressing that guest safety and privacy remain their top priority.
