The ongoing 'Yarn Expo 2025', organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) in collaboration with the Southern Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Centre, has witnessed an overwhelming response since its inauguration. Held at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sarsana from August 1, the three-day exhibition has attracted more than 14,730 buyers and visitors in just its first two days.

According to SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi, the expo has showcased an impressive variety of yarns, including viscose yarn as a silk alternative, bamboo yarn, 100 percent recycled yarn, technical yarns used in performance fabrics, carbon fiber yarn, and specialty yarns used in electric vehicles and drones. This variety reflects the evolving nature of the yarn industry and highlights its increasing alignment with sustainability and innovation.

International interest in the event was marked from the start, with representatives from countries like Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Bangladesh visiting the expo on the very first day. These delegates engaged in direct business agreements with Indian yarn manufacturers, reinforcing India’s growing importance in the global yarn industry.

Shlok Maheshwari highlighted the onset of a digital revolution in the yarn sector. He elaborated on the platform 'Yarnbiz', which connects producers and buyers online, streamlining the business process and enabling greater market reach. Modern yarn packaging technologies have also emerged as a key attraction at the event.

Karishma Dhankani, Director of Ridhan Fashions, noted that the ongoing fashion shows at the expo have provided weavers and designers with a live showcase of yarn application in real garments. On Sunday, the runway will feature themed outfits inspired by beachwear and Goa-style fashion.

Girdhar Gopal Mundra, head of Madhusudan Group and Chairman of Yarn Expo 2025, stated that the exhibition has offered an invaluable opportunity for weavers and traders to witness the diversity and technological evolution in yarn manufacturing all under one roof. A special emphasis has been placed on eco-friendly and recycled yarns, reflecting the industry’s growing commitment to sustainability.

As per report, Yarn Expo 2025 has firmly positioned Surat not just as a leader in India’s textile sector, but also as a rising global hub for textile innovation, trade, and technology. With Sunday marking the final day of the event, a surge in footfall is anticipated, making the expo a milestone for the yarn industry.
