Surat, July 25 – Hailing from Brahmanpuri village in Shahada Taluka of Nandurbar district, Maharashtra, Dr. Sanjay Hirji Patil has redefined the role of a doctor—not just as a profession, but as a mission of selfless service. His life and journey stand as an inspiring example of how true happiness lies in alleviating the suffering of others.
A graduate in B.E.M.S. (Bachelor of Electropathy Medicine and Surgery), Dr. Patil arrived in Surat in 1996. He began his career as an assistant doctor at Udhna Hospital, and after two years of dedicated service, he established his own private dispensary under the name “Aarti Clinic” in Heera Nagar, Pandesara. Today, he resides with his family in Swatantra Sainik Nagar, Gujarat Housing Board, Pandesara.
Dr. Patil credits his wife, Alka Patil, as his steadfast companion through every hardship. The couple has a close-knit family—his mother, two daughters, and a son. One daughter and the son currently reside in London, while the other daughter lives with her family in Vesu, Surat.
Dr. Patil has now fully devoted his life to social service. At his clinic, he treats underprivileged and needy patients free of charge. He strongly believes that the duty of a doctor extends beyond treatment—it also involves an emotional connection and empathy with the patient.
One of the most defining moments in his journey occurred in 2001, during a train journey on the Memo Express. A young man named Hitesh lost his right leg in a horrific accident and was alone and helpless. Without hesitation, Dr. Patil took him to Surat Civil Hospital, ensured he received proper treatment, contacted his family, and offered moral support during recovery.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when most people stayed indoors, Dr. Patil formed a team to deliver food and aid to those in need. He not only provided medical care but also upheld the spirit of community service during the crisis. He says, “Serving the poor and helpless is the true religion,” and lives by this principle every day.
Dr. Sanjay Hirji Patil continues to serve humanity from his clinic in the Pandesara area of Surat. His unwavering commitment to society has made him a beloved figure and a true hero of the people—a testament to the fact that no path is too difficult when driven by the will to serve.
