Post-Mujpur Bridge Collapse, Vadodara District Conducts Extensive Safety Inspection of 115 Bridges

Vadodara, July 14 – In the wake of the recent Mujpur bridge collapse, the Vadodara district administration has undertaken a significant initiative aimed at ensuring public safety by conducting a comprehensive inspection of all small and large bridges across the region. Acting on the orders of District Collector Dr. Anil Dhamelia, special teams comprising deputy collectors and engineers from the Roads and Buildings Department completed inspections of 115 bridges within a span of two days.

As per report, the inspection covered 94 government and 21 other bridges under the Roads and Buildings Department, in addition to those managed by the local Panchayat authorities. The taluka-wise breakdown of the inspection includes 25 bridges in Vadodara, 5 in Padra, 13 in Karjan, 8 in Shinor, 17 in Dabhoi, 25 in Waghodia, 17 in Savli, and 5 in Desar.

During the inspection, the teams carried out detailed assessments focusing on the structural integrity, current condition, load-bearing capacity, vegetation overgrowth, patchwork needs, and necessary repair measures. In several instances, the teams recommended traffic diversions to prevent risks associated with heavy vehicular movement.

District Collector Dr. Anil Dhamelia and District Development Officer Mamta Hirpara personally visited bridge sites in the Dabhoi region to review the ground situation. The final reports from these inspections have now been compiled, and based on the findings, necessary repair and structural modifications will be carried out in the coming days.

This initiative marks a proactive administrative step not only to evaluate the current condition of bridge infrastructure but also to prevent any future mishaps. The district administration has emphasized that the campaign reflects a broader commitment to public safety and infrastructure resilience.
