Adarsh Textile Market Emerges as Key Hub for Surat’s Fabric Trade
Surat, May 16, 2025 — Located at the prime junction of Ramwadi, Salabatpura on Ring Road, the Adarsh Textile Market Association (2) has established itself as one of Surat’s leading centers for textile trade. Founded in 2001, the market comprises 323 shops that predominantly deal in wholesale fabric, sarees, dress materials, laces, and Punjabi suits. It offers a wide variety of sarees and garment-related goods, making it a sought-after destination for retailers and agents alike.
Speaking to Loktej, Vijay Daga, Treasurer of the Market Association and Director of Shreyansh Print Pvt. Ltd., highlighted that the 12-member committee currently overseeing the market is led by President Gajendra S. Mehta and Vice President Gautam Seth. Daga, who has been in the textile business for over 15 years, specializes in lace production and distribution. His business caters to several states across India and operates entirely in an offline model. He also observed a growing consumer shift toward ready-made garments.
The market, according to Daga, has never undergone formal elections for its committee. Gajendra Mehta, a respected figure in the business community, is known for maintaining harmony among traders and upholding the market’s reputation. The market includes stores selling printed fabric, embroidered materials, Punjabi suits, and various garment-related products, all dealing with reputed manufacturers and agents.
Gajendra Mehta's own business, Chaturbhuj Tex, is a well-established family-run wholesale garment enterprise. His leadership is widely appreciated for its organizational efficiency and inclusive approach.
Gautam Seth, Director of S.R. Ramsons Pvt. Ltd. and Vice President of the association, has been operating in this market since 2001. With roots in Patiala from 1960, Seth expanded his business to Mumbai and eventually to Surat. He also manages a warehouse at Pandesara and oversees operations involving embroidery machines. His agency office has been active since 1984 and is backed by an in-house manufacturing unit.
To further support both merchants and clients, the market has introduced several essential facilities to ensure trade is conducted in a secure, organized, and customer-friendly environment. With its robust infrastructure and experienced leadership, Adarsh Textile Market continues to contribute significantly to Surat’s thriving textile industry.
