Trump Suggests Israeli Attack May Push Iran Toward Nuclear Deal
Houston, June 14 – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran could actually aid his administration in reaching a nuclear agreement with Tehran, rather than jeopardizing it. Speaking to media outlet Axios, Trump responded to a question on whether the bombing had endangered negotiations by saying, “I don’t think so. Maybe the opposite. Maybe now they’ll take it seriously.”
Trump indicated that Iran had been close to reaching a deal during his term but failed to finalize it. “They were close. They should have done it. Maybe now they will,” he added, hinting that the recent developments might revive diplomatic efforts.
According to a report by Xinhua, citing Axios, Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone on Friday for the first time since the attack. However, Trump declined to share details of the conversation or to confirm whether Netanyahu had requested direct U.S. involvement in the operation.
In a series of interviews with various media outlets on Friday, Trump reiterated his call for Iran to avoid further conflict with Israel by returning to the negotiating table for a nuclear deal. He warned that failure to do so could result in “something even more brutal.”
In an interview with NBC News, Trump stated, “They missed their chance. Maybe now they have another opportunity. We’ll see.” He told Reuters, “They can still make a deal. It’s not too late.”
Trump also used his social media platform, Truth Social, to issue a stark message on Friday morning, writing, “Iran should make a deal before there’s nothing left.”
As per agency report, a Reuters investigation revealed that the U.S. State Department had informed Qatar and several other Middle Eastern allies about the impending Israeli strike hours before it occurred.
In a conversation with The Washington Post, Trump claimed to have prior knowledge of the Israeli assault on Iran. “I knew the date because I know everything. I know everything. I know everything,” he said, emphasizing his insider awareness of international affairs.
Trump’s remarks come amid rising tensions in the region and reflect a continued push by his camp for a renewed U.S.-Iran nuclear accord, even as regional hostilities escalate.
