Surat, May 19 – Situated on the bustling Ring Road of Surat, Shree Ram Textile Market stands as a prominent center for wholesale textile trade, known for its extensive range of dress materials, devotional garments, suit-dupatta sets, and traditional chaniya cholis. Established in 1986–87, the market now houses 204 operational shops and continues to attract traders and retail buyers from across the country.
Currently presided over by Naresh Changulani, who also serves as Vice President of FOSTTA, the market is managed by an active committee of 11 members. Vice President Naveen Tulsiyani, Secretary Satyanarayan Malpani, and Treasurer Ashok Mehta are among the key office bearers working to address traders' issues and promote the market's development.
Speaking to Loktej, Naresh Changulani, owner of Nanak Fashion, shared that his firm deals in wholesale dress materials priced between ₹21 to ₹100 per meter. The fabrics are available in 20-meter rolls and are produced in-house using polyester, offered both through offline and online platforms in various designs.
Satyanarayan Malpani, owner of Vijaydeep Silk Mills and the market's secretary, has been in the trade for over three decades. He deals in devotional garments, dress materials, and tent fabrics, distributing them across India through an established agent network.
Another seasoned trader, Dhanraj Kundandas Pamnani of Kundan Textile, has been engaged in the sale of plain American cloth for the past 35 years. This versatile fabric, suitable for various types of garments, starts at ₹23 per meter. He also customizes color combinations based on client demand.
President Changulani emphasized that Shree Ram Textile Market is a registered entity with all legal documentation in order. To ensure the safety of traders and visitors, the premises are equipped with CCTV surveillance, a fire safety system, and other security measures. Currently, 60 percent of the shops are owner-operated, while the remaining 40 percent are on lease.
