100-Feet Tall National Flag Unveiled at SGCCI Premises in Surat as a Symbol of Unity and Patriotism
Surat – In a solemn and patriotic ceremony held on Wednesday morning, a towering 100-foot-high national flag was unveiled and hoisted at the premises of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) located at Samhati, Sarsana. The flag stands as a proud symbol of national unity, sacrifice, and resilience.
The flag was unfurled by Surat District Collector and Magistrate Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, who praised the SGCCI for its initiative and emphasized the powerful impact such symbols have in nurturing a sense of patriotism among citizens. He expressed hope that the sight of the flag fluttering high each day would ignite a lasting spirit of national pride in the hearts of all who witness it.
During the event, SGCCI President Vijay Mevawala reflected on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where innocent civilians were killed, and women subjected to atrocities. Condemning these acts, he stated that while India is a peace-loving nation, it will never tolerate terrorism. He cited the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’ carried out by the Indian Armed Forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which resulted in the destruction of multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan and the elimination of over 100 militants.
Mevawala described the installation of the grand flag not only as a representation of India’s military strength but as a symbol of the country’s unity, unwavering determination, and deep-rooted patriotism. He asserted that it is this very spirit that the chamber aims to uphold by erecting the monumental national flag within its premises.
The flag-hoisting event was organized under the leadership of SGCCI’s newly elected President Nikhil Madrasi. Outgoing President Ramesh Vaghasia, Honorary Secretary Nirav Mandalewala, Honorary Treasurer Mrunal Shukla, and several former presidents, SGCCI members, industrialists, traders, and staff were present in large numbers to witness the ceremony.
The occasion was marked by pride, reflection, and a renewed commitment to national unity, underscoring the chamber’s role not just in economic development, but also in fostering civic values and patriotic engagement.
