New Pashupati Textile Market Emerges as Surat’s Rising Fabric Trade Hub with Global Reach

Surat – Located in Ramwadi (Moti Begamwadi) of the bustling Ring Road area in Salabatpura, the New Pashupati Textile Market has swiftly emerged as one of Surat’s leading and rapidly growing textile business centers. Established in 2006, the market now houses 554 active shops engaged in both wholesale and retail trade of a diverse range of fabrics.

This market is particularly renowned for dress materials, lace and boota work, chaniya cholis, ready-made blouses, salwar suits, synthetic and cotton fabrics, and garments made using embroidery machines. Its reputation is not confined to local buyers alone—international clients also regularly conduct business here, contributing to its growing global recognition.

A dedicated management committee oversees the smooth functioning of the market. The committee comprises President Rajesh Doshi, Vice President Arun Bhai, Secretary Govind Singh Rajput, Treasurer Bhanwar Lal Jabar, Joint Treasurer Imran Iqbal, and Member Salman Badshah.

Govind Singh Rajput, the market's secretary, emphasized that security and convenience have been made top priorities. To that end, the market has been equipped with 55 CCTV cameras, a modern fire safety system, and four lifts. Notably, about 80 percent of the traders in this market are from Rajasthan, while the rest come from various other parts of India. The presence of international buyers further enhances its commercial stature.

Despite its success, the market faces several challenges. Rajput pointed out that complications related to 'Aasan Dhara' (property documentation processes) are hindering property transactions. Additionally, issues surrounding property tax and electricity billing continue to affect basic services. He also noted the growing threat to small traders from the rise of online commerce, which tends to favor larger, more tech-savvy players.

Nevertheless, with its secure infrastructure, wide product range, and vibrant trade activity, the New Pashupati Textile Market is fast cementing its place as a key player in Surat’s textile economy. With improved government support and streamlined commercial regulations, the market has the potential to become a central pillar of the city’s thriving textile industry.
