Surat, May 8 – In a spirited celebration of patriotism and community responsibility, the MEYO (Meyor) Committee is set to organize Hind Utsav-2 from May 9 to 12 at B.J. Patel Ground in Bhimrad, Surat. Far beyond just a cricket tournament, the event is being positioned as a heartfelt tribute to India’s martyred soldiers, blending sport, culture, and national pride into one powerful platform.
Committee member Shailesh Chandak stated that the tournament will unite spirited entrepreneurs and cricket enthusiasts from Surat who will play not just for victory, but in honor of the nation. At a press conference, Vivek Dodia emphasized that Hind Utsav-2 will transcend sports, serving as a symbol of unity, patriotism, and social contribution.
Vijay Bhattar revealed the central theme of this year's edition: raising support for the welfare and rehabilitation of Indian Armed Forces personnel who guard the nation’s borders. Raju Bhai Gandhi announced that several distinguished guests will grace the event, including Jigneshbhai Patil (President, Youth for Gujarat), Dr. Saurabh Parghi (IAS, Collector - Surat), and Anupam Singh Gehlot (Commissioner of Police, Surat).
Alongside thrilling cricket matches, the event will also feature cultural performances, soldier tribute programs, and awareness activities. Ravi Bang shared that the primary objective is to honor and support the families of fallen soldiers. Krishna Kant Bhattar of Unison Developers, the main associate of the event, remarked that being part of this noble initiative by MEYO is a matter of pride. He added that proceeds from every run scored during the tournament will go toward supporting the families of martyrs.
Sunil Maheshwari, media coordinator, described the tournament as the largest ever organized by the community, with 20 teams competing, including 10 men's teams, 4 women's teams, and 6 children's teams. All matches will be held in open grounds, offering cricket lovers a chance to enjoy the sport in a lively outdoor setting.
Approximately 150 families from the Maheshwari community are expected to participate actively, making Hind Utsav-2 not just a sporting event but a social gathering of significance. The organizing committee aims to use sports as a medium to promote unity, community bonding, and awareness about health and social causes.
