Surat : NTPC Kawas Observes International Labour Day

Surat : NTPC Kawas observed International Labour Day on 1st May 2025 by organising an awareness programme focusing on labour rights, workplace safety, and dignity at work. The event was held under the chairmanship of Shri Suresh John David, Head of Project, NTPC Kawas.

The programme began with Shri Sanjit Kumar Minz, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), providing detailed insights to the contract labourers about their entitlements, including minimum wages, timely payments, protection against unfair deductions, equal pay for equal work, and the available grievance redressal mechanisms. He also guided them on how to report unethical situations and seek proper resolution.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Suresh John David acknowledged the essential contribution of the labour force and said, “Labourers are the foundation of any industrial establishment. NTPC Kawas is committed to ensuring a safe, just, and respectful working environment. We strictly adhere to labour laws and uphold the highest standards of occupational health and safety.”

Shri Sanjay Kumar Mittal, Additional General Manager (Operations & Maintenance), extended greetings on Labour Day and highlighted the significant role of the labour community in NTPC Kawas’s consistent progress in power generation. He reiterated the station’s continuous efforts to uphold the rights and welfare of its labour force.

On this occasion, NTPC Kawas’s Safety Department showcased short films and audio-visual presentations to create awareness about safety protocols and accident prevention at the workplace.

The programme saw active participation from the contract labour community. Through engaging sessions and a street play performance, the labourers conveyed the vital message that safety remains the foremost priority in any industrial setting.
