E-Commerce Conclave 2025 Held in Surat to Explore the Future of Digital Trade

Surat, April 29 – The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), in collaboration with the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), organized the "E-Commerce Conclave 2025" in Surat, centered on the theme Unlocking the Future of E-Commerce. The event brought together national and international experts to shed light on the growing potential of digital commerce and the strategies needed to compete in the global marketplace.

Keynote speakers included Tej Desai, Business Development Manager at DHL, and Neha Kejriwal, Category Leader at eBay. Both shared insights into how digital platforms and international logistics are transforming the e-commerce landscape, making global trade more accessible and streamlined for Indian entrepreneurs.

In his opening remarks, SGCCI’s newly elected president Nikhil Madrasi highlighted that the Indian e-commerce market has reached a value of ₹10.82 lakh crore in 2024 and is projected to grow to ₹29.88 lakh crore by 2030. He attributed this growth to the rapid expansion of digital payments and internet accessibility, emphasizing the need to build an ecosystem where businesses of all sizes can benefit from digital trade.

Tej Desai outlined DHL’s export services, stating that the company offers courier and cargo solutions from India to over 40 countries, including for gems and jewellery. He emphasized DHL’s door-to-door services, no customs clearance charges, and six value-added delivery features that eliminate the need for intermediaries.

Neha Kejriwal discussed the global reach of eBay, which has 132 million active buyers across 190 countries. She explained the growing international demand for Indian jewellery and the importance of authenticity through services like GIS certification. Jewellery items priced between $500 and $2,500 undergo certification, enabling buyers to make purchases with confidence.

The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by newly elected vice president Ashok Jirawala. Other dignitaries present included past president Ramesh Vaghasia, honorary secretary Nirav Mandalewala, and honorary treasurer Mrunal Shukla, along with numerous e-commerce entrepreneurs, exporters, and professionals from Surat.

The event was anchored by Sandeep Kathiriya, with introductions by Hiren Lathia and GJEPC Assistant Director Rajat Vani. The interactive session saw several questions from attendees, which were addressed thoroughly by the experts, marking the conclave a successful and informative gathering.
