Surat Police Seizes Illegal E-cigarettes Worth Rs 1.29 Lakh From Paan Shop
Businessman caught selling banned e-cigarettes under the guise of paan shop; Surat Police Commissioner directs crackdown on sellers of such products
Surat's Special Operations Group (SOG) Police raided and arrested a businessman selling illegal e-cigarettes from a paan shop in the Vesu area. As part of the ongoing 'no drugs' campaign, Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar had directed officials to crack down on the sale of e-cigarettes, e-hookahs, and cigarettes without Indian health warnings in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, the SOG Police raided the Vijay Paan shop and arrested the shopkeeper, Vijaykumar Baba Prasad Chaurasia, who was caught selling e-cigarettes despite having been previously raided for the same offense. The police seized e-cigarettes worth Rs 1.29 lakh from the shop and registered a case against the accused in Vesu Police Mathak.
The use and sale of e-cigarettes are banned in India, and violators can face legal action. The Surat Police has appealed to the public to report any shops or individuals found selling such illegal products.
