SGCCI Honours Excellence Across 15 Categories at Grand Golden Jubilee Awards Ceremony in Surat

Surat, April 17: The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust hosted the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Awards Ceremony 2025 on April 16 at the prestigious Platinum Hall, Sarsana. The event celebrated distinguished individuals and institutions across 15 categories for their exceptional contributions in the fields of industry, education, environment, and social welfare for the year 2023–24.

Surat Mayor Dakshesh Mavani graced the event as the chief guest and emphasized the city's emergence as a multi-modal hub. He noted that Surat is among the four cities selected by NITI Aayog for development as growth centers, highlighting the city's leadership in cleanliness, industrial progress, and urban development.

Chamber President Vijay Mewawala welcomed guests and remarked that Surat has carved a global identity in diamonds, textiles, and solar energy. He also emphasized South Gujarat's significant role in India's economic growth.

A special Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Hemant I. Desai, President of Reliance Industries Limited, for his outstanding contributions spanning 45 years in the areas of business, textile development, and infrastructure enhancement in Surat.

Trust President Rajnikant Marfatia highlighted that the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Awards have been presented for the past 35 years through a rigorous merit-based selection process led by a distinguished jury.

The recipients of the 15 award categories for 2023–24 were as follows:

  • Excellence in Yarn Processing: Dodhia Synthetics Ltd.

  • Excellence in Fabric Processing: Shreya Print Pvt. Ltd.

  • Environmental Protection: Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd. (KRIBHCO)

  • Research and Development: Tarsadia Institute of Chemical Sciences

  • Energy Conservation: Sumul Dairy (THR Unit)

  • Productivity Improvement: Larsen & Toubro, Heavy Engineering

  • Social Welfare (Corporate): Deccan Fine Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd.

  • Social Welfare (NGO): The Desai Foundation Trust

  • MSME Entrepreneurship: Velsun Woodburn Wire Die Pvt. Ltd.

  • Excellence in School Education: Aspire Public School

  • Excellence in College/Institute: S.R. Luthra Institute of Management

  • Outstanding CEO: CA Arun H. Purohit (Sumul Dairy)

  • Outstanding Entrepreneur: Dr. Faruk G. Patel (K.P. Group)

  • Special Lifetime Achievement: Hemant I. Desai (Reliance Industries Ltd.)

The event also featured remarks from SGCCI Vice President and President-Elect Nikhil Madrasi, who introduced the chief guest, while former Chamber President Ramesh Vaghasia extended a formal vote of thanks.

Over 300 leading industrialists attended the ceremony, including SGCCI Honorary Secretary Nirav Mandalewala and trustees Kamleshbhai Yagnik and Rajendrabhai Chokhawala. The event was conducted by Honorary Secretary of the Trust Dr. Anil Sarawgi and invited trustee Deepak Kumar Sethwala.
