Medical Fitness Certification for Amarnath Pilgrims Begins at New Civil Hospital in Surat
Surat, April 11, 2025 — Devotees planning to undertake the Amarnath Yatra this year must obtain a mandatory medical fitness certificate. Starting April 11, this certification process will be conducted at the New Civil Hospital in Surat, specifically on the ground floor of the old MICU building.
The medical certification will be provided on working days from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The certification is issued free of charge. Dedicated counters for registration, medical consultation, laboratory testing, and ECG have been set up under one roof to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process for the pilgrims.
Applicants must bring four passport-sized photographs, a valid ID proof (original and photocopy of Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, or Driving License), and the required health certificate forms in duplicate. It is mandatory to appear in person to undergo the medical examination.
According to current government guidelines, medical certificates will not be issued to individuals below 13 years of age or above 70, pregnant women, and those with a history of cardiac bypass surgery or stent placement. This information has been officially outlined in the New Civil Hospital's advisory for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims.
The initiative aims to ensure the health and safety of all participants undertaking the challenging pilgrimage in the high-altitude terrain of Jammu and Kashmir.
