Surat – In the wake of the tragic fire incident at a firecracker warehouse in Deesa, the Surat police have gone into alert mode, launching a city-wide inspection of firecracker shops and storage facilities. The action aims to ensure that no such disaster occurs in Surat due to negligence or safety violations.

As per agency report, a fire safety audit has been initiated across the city. In Ramnagar area of Rander, police questioned a firecracker vendor as part of the intensified security checks, while similar operations have been carried out in various other localities.

Special Branch DCP Hetal Patel has issued a notification to all police stations directing a thorough security audit of all firecracker warehouses in the city. Police teams have been deployed to verify compliance with fire safety norms and overall safety protocols at both shops and godowns.

According to DCP Patel, the inspections are focused on ensuring that firecrackers are sold strictly as per licensing conditions and that appropriate fire prevention measures are in place. She emphasized that any sign of negligence or violation of regulations will lead to strict legal action.

Currently, 44 shops in Surat have been issued licenses for firecracker sales. The police are now closely monitoring all these licensed outlets and storage sites to eliminate any risk of a mishap similar to the Deesa incident.
