Surat Railway Station’s Platforms 2 and 3 to Reopen from April 1; Over 115 Trains to Resume Halt

Surat – After a three-month closure due to ongoing redevelopment works, platforms 2 and 3 at Surat Railway Station are set to reopen for passengers starting April 1, 2025. This move will bring relief to thousands of commuters who had been inconvenienced during the temporary suspension of services at the station.

As per agency report, more than 115 trains that were rerouted to Udhna Railway Station during this period will now resume halts at Surat station. These include 97 express and superfast trains and 18 MEMU trains. However, 25 trains operating on the Tapti line will continue to halt at Udhna.

Despite the resumption of services, the roofing work on platforms 2 and 3 remains incomplete. Passengers may face discomfort during peak summer temperatures while waiting for trains on these platforms.

While the majority of train services are returning to Surat, certain key trains such as the 22827-28 Surat-Puri Weekly Superfast Express and the 13425-26 Surat-Malda Town Weekly Express will continue to operate from Udhna. Their scheduled stops will also remain at Udhna Station.

In addition, some important trains like the Bandra Terminus Intercity, Bhusawal-Surat Express, Surat-Chhapra Clone, Surat-Bhagalpur Express, and Surat-Amravati Superfast Express will also continue to halt at Udhna. These services cater largely to passengers from nearby areas such as Bhestan, Sachin, and Pandesara, which are closer to Udhna and offer easier access.

Railway officials have stated that redevelopment at Surat station is still underway, and decisions regarding train halts are being made to ensure both operational efficiency and commuter convenience.
