Organ Donation by Brain-Dead Painter from Anand Gives New Life to Three Individuals

Surat, March 24 – Mulayam Tufani Yadav, a 30-year-old painter from Anand and originally a native of Siddharth Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, suffered critical injuries in a road accident on the night of March 19. While receiving treatment at Shree Krishna Hospital in Karamsad, he was declared brain-dead by a team of neurosurgeons on March 23. Following this, the NGO Donate Life counseled the family on the importance of organ donation, resulting in three individuals receiving a new lease on life.

As per agency report, Yadav had left for Karamsad on his motorcycle at around 8:30 pm on March 19, when his vehicle collided with a cow. He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was under intensive care until his condition was declared irreversible.

The team from Donate Life, including founder Nilesh Mandalewala and Anand-based members Nikhil Shastri and Nishil Patel (Pappubhai), reached out to Mulayam’s father Tufani Yadav and wife Savitri Devi to explain the significance of organ donation. With their consent, coordination was established with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), and his organs were allocated as follows: the liver was sent to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad, one kidney to Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad, and the second kidney to B. T. Savani Hospital. A green corridor was created with the assistance of Anand City Police to ensure timely transportation of the organs.

Fulfilling the father's wish to allow Mulayam’s mother to see her son one last time, Donate Life arranged for his mortal remains to be flown from Ahmedabad Airport to Ayodhya Airport via cargo flight. The organization also provided free travel arrangements for the family and took on the responsibility for the education of Mulayam’s two children. Assistance in embalming the body was provided by Dr. Vinesh Shah in Surat to ensure safe transportation.

At Ahmedabad Airport, renowned spiritual leader Sadhvi Ritambhara happened to meet Donate Life founder Nilesh Mandalewala. Upon learning about the noble act, she blessed Mulayam’s family for their decision to donate his organs.

With this donation, Donate Life has now facilitated a total of 1,309 organ and tissue donations from Surat and South Gujarat, including 532 kidneys, 231 livers, 55 hearts, 52 lungs, 9 pancreases, 8 hands, and 1 small intestine.

Mulayam Yadav’s selfless act, carried out by his grieving family, has not only saved lives but also set a powerful example highlighting the life-transforming impact of organ donation.
