FOSTTA’s Persistent Efforts Lead to Improved Traffic Management in Surat Textile Market
Surat, March 21 – The Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Association (FOSTTA) has taken significant steps to improve the traffic situation in the city’s bustling textile markets. With increasing concerns from traders and customers regarding disorganized parking and persistent congestion, FOSTTA has consistently appealed to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the city’s traffic police to implement effective solutions.
FOSTTA President Kailas Hakim explained that the chaotic traffic conditions in the 'Yellow Line' zone, which includes several major textile market areas, had been negatively affecting business operations and deterring customers. Responding to these challenges, FOSTTA directors Mahendrasinhji Bhayal and Neeraj Agarwal repeatedly submitted formal requests to the authorities, urging them to take action.
The traffic department has acknowledged FOSTTA’s concerns and initiated stricter enforcement measures. These include the removal of haphazardly parked vehicles, the strict implementation of no-parking zones, and increased monitoring to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Thanks to these collective efforts, the traffic situation in the textile market areas has visibly improved, offering much-needed relief to both merchants and shoppers. FOSTTA aims to transform Surat’s textile markets into a more organized and secure commercial zone. The organization has assured continued collaboration with administrative authorities to further enhance the market’s traffic and safety infrastructure.
