President Trump Orders Cleanup of Washington Ahead of Global Leaders’ Visits
New York/Washington, March 15 – US President Donald Trump has stated that he did not want global leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to witness tents, graffiti, and potholes near federal buildings in Washington. As a result, he has directed the cleanup of the US capital.
Speaking at the Justice Department on Friday, Trump emphasized that efforts were underway to clean up the city. He noted that the administration would not tolerate crime, and that graffiti and encampments were being removed in collaboration with local authorities.
As per agency report, Trump praised Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser for her efforts in maintaining the cleanliness of the capital. However, he pointed out that a large number of tents had appeared right in front of the State Department, which he deemed unacceptable. He stressed that Washington should be a city admired worldwide.
Trump revealed that during recent meetings with visiting global leaders, including India’s Prime Minister Modi, the President of France, and the British Prime Minister, he had arranged alternate routes to prevent them from seeing makeshift encampments and deteriorating infrastructure. He stated, “I didn’t want them to see the tents, the graffiti, or the broken barriers and potholes on the roads. We made it look beautiful.”
The cleanup initiative comes amid concerns over urban decay in parts of Washington, with Trump positioning it as a step toward restoring the city’s status as a global capital of excellence.
