Law Student's Speeding Car Hits Two-Wheelers in Vadodara, Woman Killed, Four Injured
Vadodara, March 14 – A tragic accident occurred in Vadodara late Thursday night when a law student, driving a car at high speed, rammed into multiple two-wheelers, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to four others. Police have arrested the driver, identified as 20-year-old Rachit Chaurasia.
The incident took place around 12:30 AM near Muktanand Crossroad in the Karelibaug area. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya stated that initial reports suggest Chaurasia might have been under the influence of alcohol. Eyewitnesses at the scene told police that he appeared intoxicated and was shouting after stepping out of the car.
The deceased woman was identified as Hemali Patel, who was riding a scooter at the time of the accident. Chaurasia, originally from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is a law student residing in a paying guest accommodation in Vadodara.
According to the police, the car belonged to Chaurasia's friend, Meet Chauhan, who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the crash. Chaurasia was driving at high speed when he lost control and collided with several two-wheelers near Muktanand Crossroad.
Authorities are now searching for Chauhan, who fled the scene following the accident. CCTV footage from the area captured the high-speed vehicle hitting two scooters, dragging the riders for a distance before coming to a stop.
Eyewitness videos show the car's front completely damaged. In the footage, Chauhan can be seen blaming Chaurasia for the accident, while bystanders are seen assaulting Chaurasia before handing him over to the police.
The police have launched an investigation into the case, including verifying whether the accused was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
