Trump Praises Sunita Williams' Hair, Assures Rescue for Stranded Astronauts
New York/Washington, March 7 – US President Donald Trump lauded Indian-origin NASA astronaut Sunita Williams for her thick and strong hair while addressing concerns about the two astronauts stranded aboard the International Space Station. Trump assured that efforts were underway to bring Williams and her fellow astronaut, Butch Wilmore, back to Earth soon.
As per agency reports, Trump criticized former President Joe Biden for what he called a failure to bring the astronauts back from space, mentioning that their mission, originally planned for eight days, had unexpectedly stretched to nine months. Speaking from the Oval Office, he remarked that Biden had left them stranded, and he was taking steps to rectify the situation.
Trump stated that he had personally spoken to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, requesting assistance in retrieving the astronauts. According to him, Musk confirmed that a spacecraft was being prepared to launch within two weeks to bring them back.
During the address, Trump also made a lighthearted remark about Williams, saying that her hair was exceptionally thick and strong. He added that while it was not a joke, it was something he had particularly noticed about her.
He went on to call Biden the most incompetent president in US history, emphasizing that such a situation would not have occurred under his administration. He suggested that being stranded in space posed significant risks, and immediate action was necessary to ensure the astronauts' safe return.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk confirmed via a post on X that the astronauts had originally been scheduled for an eight-day mission but had remained aboard the space station for eight months. Musk claimed that SpaceX could have sent a rescue vehicle six months earlier, but the Biden administration had allegedly refused to authorize it. He noted that NASA itself had not objected to the plan.
Musk added that Trump had now directed efforts to bring the astronauts back as soon as possible, and SpaceX was working to execute the plan swiftly.
