Vanya Bhatt dazzles as Eliza Doolittle in Christ University’s spectacular production of My Fair Lady

Bengaluru, March 6: Christ University witnessed a spectacular theatrical performance with its grand production of Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady on March 1 and 2, leaving audiences spellbound.  Brought to life under the guidance of four international professionals and presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), the show transported audiences into the enchanting world of this Broadway masterpiece. The highlight of the show was Vanya Bhatt, whose portrayal of Eliza Doolittle earned her immense praise and admiration.

A packed auditorium on both nights bore witness to a captivating display of theatrical excellence, marked by stellar performances, gripping storytelling and breathtaking stagecraft. The audience, enthralled by the spectacle, rewarded the cast with a standing ovation at the end of each show.

Reflecting on the experience, Vanya Bhatt, a student of Christ University and a trained Western Classical vocalist, said, “I owe this incredible opportunity to my university and my professors, whose support and guidance made this experience unforgettable. Portraying Eliza Doolittle was deeply rewarding, and I will cherish every moment spent both on the stage and in rehearsals.”

Apart from being a dedicated performer, Vanya Bhatt, who hails from Surat in Gujarat, is also a trained Western Classical vocalist and musician. With a passion for music from a young age, she has participated and excelled in various singing competitions and stage shows, earning accolades for her talent. Recognised for her work in Haveli Sangeet, she has also released devotional music, including Baajat Aaj Badhai Gokul Mein.

The production of My Fair Lady was a collaborative effort of Christ University’s drama department, featuring a talented ensemble cast and a dedicated crew who worked tirelessly to bring the classic musical to life. With impeccable direction, detailed costumes, and an enchanting musical score, the play proved to be a resounding success.

The overwhelming response from the audiences, coupled with standing ovations on both nights, highlighted the production’s impact and showcased the university’s commitment to nurturing performing arts.
