Transformer Explosion in Surat Injures Bystander

Surat: A transformer explosion in Pandesara GIDC left a 45-year-old man severely burnt as he was passing by the scene. Indrajit Singh, the victim, is currently receiving treatment in the ICU at a private hospital.

The incident occurred near Ambaji Dining in Pandesara GIDC, Surat, where a GEB transformer exploded, showering Singh with hot oil and setting him ablaze. He ran to Ambaji Mill, where a worker extinguished the fire using foam. Singh was then transported to the hospital by the mill manager in his car.

The fire department was alerted by locals, but the blaze had already been extinguished using fire extinguisher bottles from the mill before the fire brigade arrived. The explosion caused panic and chaos in the area, with artisans, laborers, and mill owners rushing out from all directions.

The entire incident was caught on a nearby mill's CCTV camera, showing people fleeing in the aftermath of the explosion. Singh's brother revealed that he had been working in a mill and was returning from lunch when the incident occurred. Singh, originally from UP, is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a son. The family now faces immense grief due to the sudden explosion.
