Albino Blackbucks Arrive at Vadodara Zoo, Set to Become New Tourist Attraction
Vadodara, February 14 – Visitors to Kamati Baug Zoo in Vadodara will soon be able to see a new attraction—four Albino Blackbucks (white antelopes), including two males and two females. These rare white antelopes have been brought in from Sardar Patel Zoological Park, Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, under the animal exchange program.
According to Dr. Pratyush Patankar, an official at Vadodara Zoo, the new arrivals are in good health. As Albino Blackbucks are naturally shy, they have been placed under a quarantine period of one week before being introduced to visitors.
This is part of Vadodara Zoo's ongoing animal exchange initiatives, which saw the recent arrival of six Scimitar-horned Oryxes from Kevadia. In exchange, Vadodara Zoo sent various bird species to Kevadia last year as part of a mutual conservation effort.
With this latest addition, the zoo now hosts a variety of deer species, though it previously lacked any Albino Blackbucks. Once the quarantine period is over, these white antelopes will be introduced into enclosures for public viewing, adding another unique attraction to the city's popular zoo.
