Woman Arrested for Swapping Fake Jewelry at Vadodara Showrooms
Vadodara, February 3 – The Vadodara Crime Branch has arrested a woman accused of stealing genuine jewelry from various jewelers' showrooms in the city by swapping them with fake ornaments.
According to police reports, multiple jewelers had lodged complaints in different police stations after discovering that valuable gold and diamond jewelry was swapped with counterfeits by a female customer who visited their stores under the pretense of purchasing jewelry.
Caught Through CCTV Surveillance
The crime branch’s women police inspector analyzed CCTV footage and technical surveillance, leading to the arrest of Praveena alias Tiny Mahendra Senva, a resident of Sagar Plaza, Koyli village, from the Mandvi Soni Bazaar area.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing:
- A gold chain from a jewelry showroom on Makarpura Road
- Two diamond rings from showrooms on Gandhigate Road and Vadsar Road
The police recovered all stolen items, and further investigations revealed that the accused had committed similar frauds in Vadodara and Kheda at four different locations.
Authorities have now alerted various police stations where similar incidents were reported, and legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
