Woman's Life Spared after Getting Stuck Between Moving Train and Platform

RPF Jawan Saves Woman from Near-Disaster at Surat Railway Station

Surat, India - A major accident was narrowly averted at Surat railway station recently, thanks to the quick thinking and actions of a Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan. The harrowing incident, caught on CCTV, shows a woman falling between a moving train and the platform as she hurriedly tries to board. The RPF personnel managed to rescue her just in time, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.

Accidents at railway stations have been on the rise recently, with passengers putting their lives in danger by attempting to board or disembark from moving trains. In some cases, passengers lose their grip or slip, falling into the gap between the train and the platform and risking severe injury or death. A young man was recently crushed by a train at Udhna railway station in one such incident.

In the Surat railway station event, two women were seen running to catch a departing MEMU train on Wednesday. One of the women lost her balance, her hand slipping from the handle and her foot slipping as she tried to board. She became trapped between the platform and the moving train.

Fortuitously, two RPF jawans were nearby, and one of them quickly spotted the woman's plight. Demonstrating great courage, the jawan immediately pulled her out, saving her life. The railway department stated that if there had been even a few seconds' delay in the jawan's response, the woman's chances of survival would have been slim.
