Surat : Shift in Fashion Trends Boosts Readymade Garment and Textile Machinery Demand in Surat

In recent years, the growing influence of Western culture has led to a decline in the demand for traditional Indian attire, while the demand for readymade and fancy garments has been on the rise. In response to changing customer preferences and societal shifts, many merchants have adapted their businesses accordingly. For decades, traditional Indian attire such as sarees and suits dominated the market, but this trend is gradually fading. Women, who once exclusively wore sarees at home, have shifted towards suits and other readymade dresses in recent times. Nowadays, women from urban and rural areas alike reserve sarees for religious, cultural, and wedding occasions, while opting for more casual readymade garments for everyday wear. As a result, the demand for readymade garments has surged, leading to an increase in the demand for garment and textile machinery.

Virabhai Solanki from Shreeji Sewing Machines (Letino) shared with Loktej that their store offers around 100 to 150 types of products for the garment industry, ranging from domestic sewing machines priced at ₹6,500 to ₹7,000 to high-end machines costing up to ₹50,000. Additionally, they provide automatic cutting machines for the garment industry, including machines with automatic cutting layers, priced between ₹22 lakh and ₹40-45 lakh. Solanki explained that these advanced machines eliminate the need for a master cutter; a designer can handle the operations with a pre-prepared design. The fabric waste is also minimized with these machines. Orders for these high-end machines are placed with a 100% advance payment. Shreeji Sewing Machines is committed to providing all the latest equipment needed to start and run a garment factory, including regular maintenance services. Spare parts for all machines are always available.

Virabhai also mentioned that in recent days, regular cutting machines have been supplied in large quantities to Vapi. These machines require a cutting master. Speaking about the current demand, he noted that factory supplies have been halted for the past 20 days. However, sales of domestic sewing machines for personal use are steady due to the upcoming Diwali season. While overall sales this year have been decent compared to last year, he acknowledged that last year saw consistent demand throughout the year, whereas this year, good business was seen only for three to four months. He remains hopeful for a rise in demand for the garment industry after Diwali.
