Textile Industry Sees Surge in Embroidery Sector as Demand for High-Tech Machines Rises

Surat, September 28 – The textile industry, which is the second-largest employment provider after agriculture, is witnessing a significant boom across all related sectors. With rising demand for embroidery, dyeing, printing, and weaving-knitting, there has been an unprecedented surge in orders for embroidery machines. Particularly, advanced embroidery machines are in high demand.

Udhna-based Ellis Brand has seen such overwhelming demand for their Chetak and Chetak Shoorveer embroidery machines that the company has had to stop taking new bookings.

Manvendra Pratap Singh and Prathim Modi from Ellis Brand shared with Loktej that the demand for these machines, especially Chetak Shoorveer, has skyrocketed. "After receiving over 200 machine orders, we have had to close bookings for the Chetak Shoorveer machine. Out of these, only 25 machines have been delivered so far, with more than 175 orders still pending," they said. Of the total orders, 12 machines are set to be installed in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and Ahmedabad, with the remaining 182 machines designated for various areas in Surat.

104-Head Chetak Machine Demand to Grow Further

Prathim Modi noted that the Chetak and Chetak Shoorveer machines are in high demand, with the Chetak Shoorveer leading the charge. A 104-head Chetak machine, priced at approximately ₹45 lakhs, was recently installed at Sachin Industrial, Surat. The 70-feet-long machine allows two to three artisans to work simultaneously, producing lace trims. Modi expects demand for this machine to increase in the coming months.

He further explained that Surat is a textile hub, with an abundant supply of raw materials. Surat's textile traders, who initially focused on sarees, suits, and kurtis, are now rapidly venturing into ready-made garments, driving demand for advanced machinery.

The Chetak Shoorveer comes in various models, including 22-23 heads and models like 27/250 (₹19 lakhs), 23/400 (₹21 lakhs), 24/400 (₹22 lakhs), and 25/400 (₹23 lakhs). Modi added that prices vary depending on the features, with each machine capable of producing 5-7 lakh stitches within 12 hours, depending on the artisan's skill level.
