iPhone 16 Series Sales Begin in India with Long Queues at Apple Stores
New Delhi – Sales of the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series officially kicked off in India today, with Apple's flagship stores in New Delhi and Mumbai opening their doors early at 8 a.m. In Delhi's Select City Walk, Saket, eager customers were seen lining up well ahead of the usual opening time of 11 a.m. to get their hands on the latest iPhones.
Apple had unveiled the iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, during its major event on September 9 titled *'It's Glotime'*. The series features advanced AI capabilities and cutting-edge technology. Pre-orders began on September 13, with customers able to book their phones through Apple's official website as well as major e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon.
The starting price for the iPhone 16 in India is ₹79,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is priced at ₹1,44,900. In comparison, the same iPhone 16 model is available in the U.S. for $799 (approximately ₹67,100), and the Pro Max for $1,199 (around ₹1,00,692). Despite the iPhone 16 models being assembled in India, the Pro Max is about ₹44,000 more expensive and the base iPhone 16 model is ₹13,000 pricier than their U.S. counterparts.
The high demand and long queues highlight the enthusiasm of Indian customers for Apple's latest flagship devices, even with the pricing differences between India and the U.S.
