Prime Minister Modi to Launch 'Jal Sanchay Janbhagidari' Initiative in Surat via Video Conferencing
The new water conservation campaign emphasizes community involvement and aims to bolster water security in Gujarat.
On Friday at 12:30 PM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a gathering in Surat, Gujarat, via video conferencing to inaugurate the 'Jal Sanchay Janbhagidari' initiative. This program is designed to enhance water security through community participation and ownership. The initiative, under the leadership of the Gujarat government, will be launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
According to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of water security and seeks to mobilize a society-wide and government-wide approach. The success of previous water conservation efforts in Gujarat has laid the foundation for this expansive new project.
The 'Jal Sanchay Janbhagidari' initiative plans to construct approximately 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures throughout Gujarat. These recharge structures are expected to increase rainwater collection and ensure long-term water sustainability. The initiative represents a concerted effort to organize citizens, local bodies, industries, and other stakeholders towards securing a water-safe future for the state.
