Prime Minister Narendra Modi Embarks on Three-Day Visit to Brunei and Singapore

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed this morning on a three-day official visit to Brunei and Singapore, marking a significant diplomatic effort to bolster India's partnerships within the ASEAN region.

Before leaving, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that his visit would further strengthen India's relations with Brunei, Singapore, and the broader ASEAN region. He emphasized the importance of these nations in India's 'Act East' policy and the Indo-Pacific strategy, highlighting their role as crucial partners in the region.

The Prime Minister's itinerary includes a visit to Brunei on September 3, followed by a trip to Singapore on September 4. Ahead of his departure, PM Modi remarked, "We are celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations with Brunei. I look forward to my meetings with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other members of the royal family to elevate our historic ties to new heights." He added, "I am also eager to meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and former Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong in Singapore."

Upon his arrival at Brunei International Airport at 5 PM, Prime Minister Modi will receive a formal welcome. Shortly thereafter, he will proceed to his hotel. At 7:50 PM, he is scheduled to inaugurate the new chancery of the Indian High Commission. Later in the evening, around 8:15 PM, he will visit the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, a significant cultural landmark in Brunei.

This visit is expected to reinforce India's diplomatic and strategic relations in Southeast Asia, reflecting the nation's ongoing commitment to deepening its engagement with ASEAN countries.
