Surat, August 23 – The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry recently hosted a seminar on 'The Role of Innovation in Modern Business' at Seminar Hall-A, Sarsana, Surat. The event featured prominent speakers including Avi Sharma, known as 'Wonder Boy' and a recipient of the Prime Minister's National Child Award, who shared his insights on innovation's pivotal role in driving business forward.
During the seminar, Vijay Mewawala, President of the Chamber, welcomed attendees, highlighting that innovation is the lifeline of modern businesses, enabling them to stay competitive both domestically and globally. He pointed to the 2023 Global Innovation Index where countries like Switzerland, the U.S., and Sweden lead, with India ranked 40th. Mewawala pointed out that global companies have invested over a trillion U.S. dollars in research and development in 2023, underscoring the ongoing growth driven by innovation.
Avi Sharma spoke about the necessity of embracing change and innovation in business to keep up with the rapid transformations occurring worldwide. He stated that true innovation can only occur when there are no limits to one’s goals and one is engaged in work they truly enjoy. "An entrepreneur should always have a positive outlook and learn from every rise and fall in their journey," Sharma added, emphasizing that embracing change is essential as it is the only constant in the world.
The seminar also saw significant contributions from other dignitaries including the Chamber's treasurer Mrunal Shukla, Group Chairman Ashok Jirawala, and several entrepreneurs from diverse industrial sectors. Honorary secretary Nirav Mandalewala introduced the speakers, setting the stage for a fruitful exchange of ideas.
Sharma engaged with the audience, addressing their queries effectively, which added to the richness of the discussion. The event concluded successfully with Chamber group president Shailesh Desai thanking all those present, marking another impactful gathering aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and implementation of innovation in business practices across Surat.
