Increased Demand for Embroidery and Bead Machines Fuels Optimism in Surat's Textile Market

Surat — After months of recession in the textile industry, signs of recovery are becoming evident as work gradually picks up across various sectors, including textile market traders, weavers, knitting, transport, and embroidery. The recession, which began in March due to the limited number of marriage dates in the summer, persisted until mid-July. However, the situation is now improving, with increased activity across industries related to textiles.

In local markets, the demand for various types of clothing has surged, leading to increased shopping at various outlets. Ankitbhai Goyani, who runs an embroidery factory near Unity Industrial Estate, Pramukh Park in Pandesara, Surat, shared that work in the embroidery sector has been on the rise for the past 15-20 days. The industry, which had been sluggish for the last three months, is now seeing signs of growth, with expectations that this momentum will continue until Diwali.

One of the key drivers of this resurgence is the growing demand for bead machines, particularly those equipped with new creations in embroidery. These machines, which cost around ₹50 lakhs, are imported from China. Initially introduced two to three years ago, the machines were not successful until recent improvements made them more viable for the industry. Over the last six months, the demand for these machines has increased significantly, with many in the embroidery industry keen to install them.

The specialty of these machines lies in their ability to perform embroidery with the finesse of handwork, offering excellent finishing. Depending on the design, these machines can produce anywhere from 20-25 meters to 400 meters of cloth in a 12-hour period. The quality of design has improved with these machines, driving their demand even higher.

Yogendra Singh of Rajhans Fabizo near Kangaroo Circle highlighted the recent surge in demand for bead machines. A single device costs ₹60,000, and a full machine with 15 devices costs ₹9 lakhs. These machines can be attached to existing equipment to enhance bead work. The new machines coming into the market now include bead attachments, and traders have also started integrating bead machines with other machines like sequence, code, and laser. Due to the high-quality design and finishing comparable to handwork, the demand for these machines is expected to remain strong in the coming days.
